Craving a little live entertainment? The Live Oak Little Theatre (LOLT)has the cure to satisfy. Artistic Director, Mike Schenk, heads up the new non-profit theatre group based in East Orlando. "It is my vision to have a neighborhood theatre in which the entire family can become involved", says Schenk, who has over 25 years experience as a director, producer and actor. Schenk received his extensive theatrical training at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena, California. The goal of LOLT is to build a 200-seat theatre for live family entertainment in downtown Avalon Park. The group has begun discussions with the Central Florida Performing Arts Alliance and Avalon Park developer, Beat Kahli. Mr. Kahli is very supportive of the arts. The theatre will offer many opportunities for theatrical training programs for children and adults. The LOLT will produce full-length community plays and musicals,fairy tale theatre and interactive birthday parties, holiday shows and special outdoor events. The board of directors will hold their first meeting in June to discuss a kick-off membership and volunteer drive. Many opportunities are still available for those interested in supporting the Live Oak Little Theatre. The LOLT is beginning its first theatrical training program by offering a summer camp for young actors ages 8 - 14. The students will learn to act, sing and dance in a musical adaptation of "Grease". The camp will be held at Timber Creek High Scholl and run from July 14 -18th and ending with a production for family and frineds on July 19th.
